Abstract

We discuss some of the basic elements of Maximal functions and their connection to Hardy spaces, both in the classical and the multiparameter settings on $R^d$. We also present some resent results on Hardy spaces in the presence of a non-negative self-adjoint operator whose heat kernel has Gaussian localization.
